Hello…. Thanks for popping by.
So I’m Nic, I’m a wife of ONE and mum of TWO and I run my own Pop up Bookshop business, NicbBooks.
In May 2016 I was on maternity leave with my second baby. I wasn’t ready to go back to work, but I missed the validation that came from doing something other than the ‘mum-drum’ of my maternity leave life. I’ve always been a huge bookworm and am a massive advocate of books for children – both my children have had bedtime stories since they were in the womb.. it’s no coincidence that they are both book mad! So it was a no brainier for me when I saw an opportunity start a book business with Usborne.
For just £38, I was being offered the opportunity to build a business around something that I was passionate about, whilst being able to do the mum thing as well… something else I was passionate about. I was being offered a no pressure, flexible home working solution that would not only work around my family, but with and for my family.
My working week varies from being sat on the floor doing puzzles with my boy whilst emailing school’s about all the amazing FREE BOOKS I can offer them, to loading up my car with all my beautiful books and heading to an event to spend a few hours talking about Usborne and enjoying myself with other small business owners… leaving the kids to enjoy some quality time with daddy!
In October 2016 I promoted to Team Leader status within Usborne; this meant that I had worked hard to mentor and support other “mumpreneurs” as they set out on their own Usborne Journey. My team is a mix of different women with different backgrounds, family circumstances and work commitments. Some are local to me, others are flung far and wide; but we come together as a group of friends with one shared purpose… to make a change to our lives and the lives of others.
I have seen my business grow, and go from strength to strength, and I am proud of what I have achieved. I have also been witness to others doing the same, and I am as passionate and committed to their successes as I am my own. Being part of Usborne isn’t just about business, it’s about family – being part of my Usborne family, whilst providing for my own little family.
Anyone can make the choice to make the change; so if you’re considering it, I’d love to talk more with you, and together we can make a better business.
