The 2019 Summer Reading Challenge

17th June 2019

The Summer Reading Challenge is the UK's biggest free reading for pleasure event for children. Run by the national charity The Reading Agency in partnership with the UK public library network, the aim of the Challenge is to encourage children to read any six books of their choice from their library during the summer holidays.

Better still, to coincide with the 50th anniversary of the Moon landings, the 2019 theme is extra(terrestrially) special. By joining the Space Chase this summer, children will be able to keep up their reading skills and confidence during the long holidays by going on an out-of-this-world adventure.

We are thrilled that three Usborne books have been included in the 71 must-have reads for children aged 4-11. Each title in The Reading Agency's collection has been specially chosen by children and librarians to reflect key Space Chase themes, including exploration, endeavour, imagination, creativity and friendship.

To help us prepare for lift-off, these three Usborne books included across The Reading Agency's collection will be available to purchase at a specially discounted rate:

  • Get The Train to Impossible Places for just £5.99 (RRP £6.99)
  • Get Scavengers for just £5.99 (RRP £6.99)
  • Get Billy and the Mini Monsters: Monsters at the Seaside for just £4.99 (RRP £5.99)

Whether you've already enjoyed your library's copy and would now like your own, or your children are simply inspired to explore the realms of the reading galaxy, these gripping reads are sure to help them take their summer to infinity and beyond!

Order yours from your local Independent Usborne Organiser today or get in touch.
