Dream Bigger: An Inspirational Day with Usborne
28th October 2019
On Thursday 17th October, 148 of our wonderful Organisers joined us for our second Dream Bigger Day of Inspiration at the De Vere Staverton Estate in Northamptonshire.
Open to all, this one-day event is no ordinary conference. With an agenda geared around helping our Organisers to write their own success stories on their terms, Dream Bigger is all about inspiring our attendees to transform their distant dreams into realistic and attainable goals.
So what does 'better' look like to our Organisers?
A crucial part of our mission to be the best way to buy and sell Usborne books is recognising our Organisers' superpowers - what makes them unique; what excites and energises them - and building upon them. Our morning strengths exercise set our attendees up in the best possible way, allowing them to take the time to work on their businesses, and not just in them.
We were joined by a very special guest for our second session of the morning, and there was a palpable buzz to be felt when Usborne author, Susanna Davidson, took to the stage. Author of the much-loved Billy and the Mini Monsters series, our Organisers were mesmerised as they were treated to a first glimpse of the series' upcoming additions. They were also party to some exclusive (and very exciting) news regarding another bestselling series...
A series of inspiring Leader-led workshops kicked off our afternoon session. A big 'thank you' to Keely Horn and Rachel Pettifer, who expertly coached the audience on successful online and offline book parties, Carron Charlesworth, Michelle Dalby and Anna Koe, who delivered a wonderfully entertaining session on successful school events, and Sarah Barrett, Kimberley Flynn and Vikki MacDonald, who donned their acting hats to perform a fantastic demonstration of hosting a successful event. From "the fortune is in the follow-up" to "telling creates resistance; asking creates relationships", our Organisers received plenty of invaluable top tips to help them progress on their Usborne journeys.
With a brilliant talk on project #TransformYourSchoolLibrary from our Marketing Editor, Lucy Raby, continuing the afternoon's schools focus, our Organisers enjoyed one of the day's many tangible outcomes: increased confidence to work with schools.
Another particularly exciting moment from our Dream Bigger Day of inspiration was our hotly-anticipated prize draw. A big congratulations to the winners of our three fabulous prizes:
- Lisa Sheppard was the lucky winner of our first prize of a voucher for two at the De Vere Staverton Estate
- Claire Clarke was the lucky winner of our second prize of £100 worth of November new titles
- Joanne Randall was the lucky winner of our third prize of £50 worth of November new titles
No Usborne Books at Home event would be complete without a goody bag - and our Dream Bigger offerings did not disappoint. As our Organisers formulated their action plans for their business going forward, they also considered how the contents of their goody bag could strengthen their business on their return home.
A goal without a plan is just a wish, and our day was wrapped-up with a reminder of just that. Having re-defined the limits of our comfort zones, recognised our strengths and been inspired by a whole host of ideas, top tips and success stories, our Organisers left feeling ready and eager to write the next pages of their Usborne stories.
Wondering where dreaming big could take you? Join us out our next Dream Bigger event in June 2020!
