Pop-Up Bookshop founded Great Big Read in September 2019 which is a local initiative to get more Dorset children reading.

๐Ÿ“šGreat BIG Read is Pop-Up Bookshop's new initiative to help fundraise a target minimum of £40,000 Usborne Books for 25 lucky Dorset educational establishments - our first event takes place around World Book Day 2020.

๐Ÿ“šPeter Usborne personally launched a #TransformYourSchoolLibrary campaign with the aim to get 500,000 free books into schools during the 19-20 academic year. Great Big Read aims to ensure a large chunk of these books will benefit Dorset schools.

๐Ÿ“šWithout affecting limited school budgets, Great Big Read instead fully engages pupils through sponsored reading that embeds into your curriculum and school routine.

๐Ÿ“šUsborne will donate 60% FREE books on all school orders over £600 so for a targeted fundraising amount of £25,000 this equates to a staggering £15,000 FREE books!

๐Ÿ“šFacilitated entirely by Pop-Up Bookshop we maximise funds using a virtual book fair add-on as well as business and individual donations through a giant Community Book Pledge.

๐Ÿ“š If you are a teacher, TA, PTFA member, or passionate parent who would like Pop-Up Bookshop to help your school gain thousands of pounds of Usborne Books please contact:

A little about me and my Usborne journey so far...

๐Ÿ˜ I am a mum to two book-mad daughters; Phoebe who is 5 and 'Neep' who is 3. I could never have been a stay-at-home mum without working part-time as well. As much as I LOVE to play with my girls, I also need to work to feel validated and to retain my own identity.

๐Ÿ˜ I joined Usborne Books at Home in October 2017 and created my Pop-Up Bookshop business to fit around MY schedule and, ultimately, benefit MY family and MY local community - it really is the perfect job to suit a busy mum!

๐Ÿ˜ I service Bournemouth & Poole promoting and selling our award-winning Usborne children's books - there are limitless avenues, it is such an exciting and varied job. Apart from the obvious financial benefits, it has given me real hope that there is a better way to fulfil my dreams of running a business and also be there for my family.

๐Ÿ˜ Setting up Pop-Up Bookshop has been helped incredibly by all of the marketing tools, resources, and information made readily-available (promo-materials, website, selling aids etc). For a busy working-mum like me, having this helping-hand has meant a speedy set-up and has proved invaluable to me being able to quickly focus on the actual selling of our lovely Usborne books!

๐Ÿ˜ The support network at Usborne Books at Home is second-to-none; I have been welcomed and made to feel part of a family of like-minded women, always on-hand to offer friendly tips and advice.

๐Ÿ˜ I have had a phenomenally successful start to my business, promoting to Team Leader in July 2018 and being awarded second place in the Usborne Achievement Awards 2018 for Top New Team Leader.

๐Ÿ˜ I am incredibly passionate about working with local schools to promote literacy, helping more Dorset children to enjoy reading. Usborne offers a number initiatives that place free books into the hands of children - it is an inspirational company to work for!

๐Ÿ˜ But most importantly, Usborne books are simply beautiful, and so enjoyed by my children.

๐Ÿ˜ If I have inspired you to join forces and let me help guide you to sell these wonderful Usborne books to your friends, family, and local community, then don't hesitate to get in touch.
